CAW Local 555
Members Ratify New Collective Agreement
CAW Local 555 Members, representing support
staff at McMaster University in Hamilton, Ontario have voted overwhelmingly
in favour of a new 3 year Collective Agreement.
Local 555 Members voted 97.2 per cent in favour at a ratification
meeting held at the Hamilton Convention Centre on June 14, 2006. Leslie
Steinberg, Chair of Bargaining Committee stated: "The Bargaining Committee
would like to thank all of our Members for their show of support and
confidence during these negotiations in which we were able to negotiate the
best Collective Agreement at McMaster."
"This is a major victory which was possible
because of the overwhelming support of the CAW Membership. This is an
historic day for CAW Local 555 as we have moved to the forefront of our
sector (post secondary education) and have proven that we are stronger
together!" added President Mina Sarajcic.
